The third MoonTrekker event will see 1,000 runners traversing a 25 kilometer and a 40 kilometer route across Lantau Island for charity.
The endurance run takes place at night, beginning at 9 p.m., which allows participants to catch the sun rise towards the end of their route.
The last section of both routes pass through Po Lam Zen Monastery and up Hong Kong's second highest peak for the best sunrise vistas.
The record time was broken in 2010 at 4 hours and 9 minutes for the 40 kilometer route.
