Trên đường từ Orlando đi New Orleans hai vợ chồng tôi đã ghé ngang qua một thành phố nhiều sòng bai nổi tiếng của vùng Gulf Coast, nằm trên bờ biển vịnh Mexico rất đẹp, thành phố Biloxi…
Biloxi nhỏ hơn Las Vegas, không vui bằng Atlantic City, nhưng đây là thành phố thứ ba của tiểu bang Missisipi, có hơn 15 sòng bài lớn. Bảo Katrina đã tàn phá thành phố này. Bốn năm sau Biloxi đã sống trở lại, rất vui.
Tham quan một vài casino tại đây như Grand Casino và Hard Rock, tôi tình cờ thấy có tiếng Việt của mình tại Grand Casino. Đọc kỹ bảng chử Việt lớn thấy đề "Phòng đánh bài", tò mò nhìn vào trong thấy có nhiều người Việt Nam đang nghiêm chỉnh đỏ đen, không biết nên buồn hay vui. Đọc được tiếng Việt ở xứ Mỹ thì vui. Ở Mỹ chỗ nào có nhiều người Việt Nam lui tới, chỗ đó ngôn ngữ và văn hóa Việt Nam được biết đến, dầu là ở sòng bài...
Bảo Katrina đã tàn phá Biloxi hư hại trầm trọng. Thị trưởng thành phố này ví Katrina như một trái bom nguyên tử đã nổ trên Hiroshima, hay là một trận sóng thần tsunami đã ập vào đất Mỹ. Bộ đồ lính của Elvis đã bị bảo thổi đi lênh đênh trên giòng sông Missisipi, sau được dân chúng trả lại cho Casino Hard Rock.
Vì không được chụp hình trong casino nên xin chia sẻ với các bạn một vài hình ảnh bãi biển Biloxi, rất đẹp, mùa đông chưa ai tắm, chỉ thấy một gia đình Việt Nam ngồi phơi nắng cho trẻ con chạy quanh bãi biển vui chơi với nước và sóng biển thôi. Trong entry tới tôi sẽ post hình một số vật kỷ niệm các nghệ sĩ nổi tiếng của Mỹ và thế giới tại casino Hard Rock, trong số đó có áo của danh ca Madonna.. (sẽ bổ túc sau)..
Tại bãi đậu xe ở sòng bài Grand Casino. Sau lưng vợ tôi là vịnh Mexico đẹp và thơ mộng. Sau Katrina, cuộc đời vẫn tiếp tục, đáng sống quá.
Bãi cát ở Biloxi rất đẹp, mịn, màu hơi vàng, đẹp hơn bãi biển Atlantic City tôi đã từng tắm qua mấy năm trước.
Tại sòng bài Hard Rock, mới và rất độc đáo. Trong entry tới tôi sẽ post nhiều hình về casino nầy, không phải chỗ đánh bài, chỉ phía ngoài nơi trưng bày những kỷ vật các nghệ sĩ nổi tiếng mà thôi..

•Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, which had initially hoped to open for post-Katrina business in Summer 2005, but opened later than expected in June 2007.
•Treasure Bay Casino Resort re-opened in summer 2006.
•Grand Biloxi is re-opened and has built a casino in its formerly named Bayview Hotel.
•Bacaran Bay Resort is being redesigned and will soon be under construction on Caillavet Street between IP Hotel and Casino and Beau Rivage.
•Jimmy Buffett's Margaritaville Casino and Resort, announced by Harrah's to be built on the site of the old Grand Casino Biloxi and Casino Magic properties.
•Island View Casino Resort is nearby Gulfport's only casino and home to one of world-famous chef Emeril Lagasse's restaurants.
•Hollywood Casino is located in Bay St. Louis and includes an on-site golf course and movie cinema decor.
•The Silver Slipper was the first land-based casino to open following Hurricane Katrina. This beachfront resort is located just outside Bay St. Louis, west of Biloxi.
•Biloxi's neighbor D'Iberville will be home to former MGM exec Peter Simon's newly approved casino The Monarch.
•D'Iberville will also be the future home of Royal D'Iberville Casino Resort, a newly approved project.
•Bayview Casino Resort will begin construction in January 2008 on the Back Bay of Biloxi.
•Vue Crescente Resort has begun its application to house a casino within its new twin 30 floor condo towers that are being built on the Back Bay of Biloxi.
•Tivoli Resort, The Ocean Club, and a Long Beach project are recently proposed casino additions to the metro area. ”
